Ever since Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 were announced, Pokemon fans have been speculating on what region(s) the games will take place in. While many fans seemed to agree that the sequels will continue its story in the Unova region, there’s a growing number of fans who think the games may take place in a new region or perhaps even the Hoenn region.
Unfortunately, the games won’t take place in the Hoenn region because an employee at Game Freak has confirmed it.
Toshinobu Matsumiya, a game planner at Game Freak, recently tweeted the following in response to the rumors about the Hoenn region appearing in Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2:
“As one of Pokemon fans, I feel that it’s meaningless to go Housen region in B2W2, even exclude words “Ruby Sapphire” in B2W2 title.”
I think it’s good to have confirmation on this because I am still hoping for a remake of Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire.
